Change of Plans

Need to give a very special shout out today to my brother, Rusty - it's his birthday.  Not telling you how old he is, though.  He might kill me.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUPPY!!!!!!!

We arrived in Sumter, SC yesterday afternoon after a 45 mile "detour."  We thought we might stay in a state park that was close by only to discover that the road was a chirt road and the hookups were not going to allow us to run everything we needed to in the RV.  Special thanks goes out to Mr. Spann at Spann's market for the good directions.  We landed in the parking lot of WalMart and set up for the night.  Sharon, the assistant manager, greeted us with open arms and rolled out the red carpet.  Also, Terrell, at the Murphy gas station helped us fill our fresh water tank and entertained us while we waited.

Well, we have encountered a few issues along the way.  Nothing that God can't handle, tho.  Glyn is experiencing some nerve damage down his right leg.  We have talked with some other professional cyclists and found out that this is due to compression of the nerves and blood supply in the pelvic area from the type of seat that he has.  Needless to say, he will not be riding his bike today.  However, after prayerful consideration, we have decided to go ahead and drive on over to Aiken, SC in order to get back on our original schedule. This will also allow his body time to recuperate from the journey thus far.

The ladies at the Verizon store got us up and running with an internet thingamajig.  Sabrina Budden and Jennifer Larkin were soooo patient with a technologically challenged individual such as myself.  Jennifer was so touched by Glyn's struggles today that she began to tear up.  You are a sweet young lady and have a beautiful family.  Thanks again to both of you for your help and your encouragement.

We also have several errands to run today-bank, post office, bike shop, and most importantly, laundry!!!!  So, I guess this is a blessing in disguise.
